can anyone recommend the best kleuterschools for kids in curacao without having to pay over the top .must be dutch ( that do not have a long waiting list

There are 4 public schools teaching in Dutch, but those have enormeous waiting lists (Van Walbeeckschool, Marnix, ALbert Schweitzer and Vigdis Jonckheer-Mensing College).
Many of the private schools are full too and they are quite expensive. But you could try for instance www.derakkers.nl
They`ve let me know that they had room left.
Few other private schools: Schroederschool (very expensive), Pipita (no room left for new children), Chispita, Trudy`s kleuterschool.

if u do go to curacao maybe we should keep contact it would be cool to have a contact before i get there
I have already been there for a month .
hubby has lots of contact he is there well flying as i speak .
we are not sure if we will go due to all the complications that go with moving but it is on the cards and will be next year maybe march i presume if it goes through

do u know where is the best place to live .buy or rent???

i heard trudy`s is 450 a month and converted that is around 200 euros.expensive but i was paying 110 for peauterspeelzaal and it was less hours

Hi Maria,
We chose Trudy`s private school, because I heard lots of good comments on her school and because she responds very quick and provides you with lots of information. Most of the times you won`t hear a thing when you send someone an email, so she is a nice exeption.
Compared to Schroederschool, she isn`t too expensive (Schroeder is 400 Euro`s a month, the 10500 NAF you mentioned).
I am going to Curacao in februari 2007 with my 5 year old daughter. I am going with a friend of mine, who has a daughter of the same age. So that`ll be fun for the kids ;) We`re staying for about six months.
There are a lot of topics here on living areas. I have made complete lists of where to and where not to live ;) If all goes well, we will be living in the new part of Koraal Partir, on a small resort. I heard it`s a very child friendly neighbourhood.
Keep me posted on the progress! It would be nice to keep in touch.
If you`re going in March perhaps the kids will end up in the same class ;)

when i was there i found it very lonely but i had just given birth so that had a huge part to play and the baby got very sick when there so i returned to holland 2 kids in toe and hubby stayed and worked
we will see .I am so use to having people around me but am willing to give it a try and start a new life for a year

Yes, we are renting a place. What about you? Are you planning on staying for a year?
Trudy had two places left for us at least, not sure if there is any more room. The website should be working soon though, so you can find the additional info. The two classes are small (30 kids max, so 15 each class) and it costs 425 NAF a month. It is not too far from where we are going to live, but we do have to have a car!
I can imagine, when you`re living there not knowing anyone yet, it must be quite lonely, especially with a sick child!
That`s the reason my friend and I decided to go together, so we can take turns in picking up the kids after school (and consequently not being able to work that afternoon) and support each other in case one of us gets ill.
Are you going to work there as well of just your husband?
You`re currently living in Holland? Where are you from originally (if I may ask ;))?

If we do go i do hope they have a place in trudy`s.It is very important that my son is happy in school and at the moment he just started montesorri so small groups with individual attention is important for me and him.

we are still checking the possibilities out .hubby has a business there and is constantly back and forth
i am now alone yet again for 2 weeks so the best option is to go there for a year and sort this bloody office out before i have fatherless children hahahah
i have checked that resorts seru something or other and it looks ok
i will pass all info onto hubby and he can make the decision
i do not want to sell up here in holland just incase it does not go well we always have our house.just rent it out

we stayed in piscardera resort and it is about 20 mins away from there in the direction casa abou but not that far near the airport
i met a woman in the supermarket when in curacao dutch lady and she said i should go there and stay if we ever decide to move over

Hi,
I am taking an internship, my friend is trying to find a job (because that pays better) and if that doesn`t work out, she`ll be doing an internship as well.
No hubbies on our side, doing it all by ourselves ;)
Don`t pass the info about the house by the way, that`s ours!!! :p
Both of us have never been in Curacao before...
Can`t wait though! We always thought we couldn`t go abroad because of the kids, but now we decided to just give it a try. And it seems to be working out. Within a week I`ll know for sure if I`m having the internship, so keeping my fingers crosst!
With kids that young it ís a 24/7 job! With two 5-year-olds you`re a lot more flexible. Schools are out early, at noon, so lots of time to spend on the beach :)
Piscadera, isn`t that near Julianadorp? That`s not too far from Trudy`s either. But then again, I have the idea that everything is close, since the Island isn`t too big (even for Dutch standards ;))
What kind of business does your husband have over there? (Me, curious?? never!) Probably tiring for him to, flying back and forth all the time...
Are you moving as a try for a possibly perminent stay or just for one year?

I am not yet sure if it will happen but i would only consider 1 year at the moment
I want the kids to be educated here in holland .curacao is 1 hour from miami and kids could always study in USA if it did come to that but i really don`t see myself living in 32 degree heat for my whole life.i like the change in the weather

yes piscardera is nearby juliandorp .it was fab.we had a beautiful villa but we needed more kids around and a villa is quite secluded but it was nice .look at me complaining hahah people wold give their right arm for these chances hahahah and i only look for the negatives hahahha
