Hello Brenda,

We live there for about a year. It`s a nice place to live with children if they are younger then about 10 years, older children get bored at this place.
There has started a little restaurant just last week.

The location is about 20 minutes from the center of Willemstad and Emmastad (international school).
Most people on Recompensa are Dutch.

Hi Brenda,
All the sleeping rooms do have airco. The houses are quite small: 2 or 3 bedrooms, so you can live here with maximum 2 kids. Some of the houses have an extra spot for guests. The rent for that houses is off course higher. All the houses are new and good maintained. They are warm to live in (sometimes 34 degrees C) and there are a lot of mosquitoes.
You don`t have much privacy because there are no private gardens ore something.
Most people live here for about 1/2 year or 1 year and move then to another spot.
Good luck for making a choise!

Hi HP

where would u recomend to live .is it better in a resort .i have 2 small kids.one is 4 and the other will be 1 when we are there
can u give me an idea where are all the people going when leaving recompensa park.i would love an area whereby there are kids to play with and a safe area

we do have a choice on an apartment on the spanse water beautiful place but i am not sure if it will have what i am looking for.i am looking for companionship with others.i want to be able to make contact with other people also in the same situation as me get what i mean

i do not want to be stuck in a beautiful house but see no one .

i would love to hear your opinion on the options

thanks in advance

Hi Brenda,
The age of your kids is a nice age to live on the resort. There are a lot of children of that age. The people who are leaving go to different areas like: Grote Berg, Cas Grandi, Jan Thiel. Other nice spots to live are for instants: Julianadorp, Sunset Heights, Sun Valley and some people like Jongblood en Matancia very much. It depends on the neighbourhood if children can play outside en if you can have contact with other people. I personnaly feel safe on the island en because of safety it`s not neccesary to live on a resort. For contacts and a safe spot to play outside for children it`s nicer.
I hope you can come to the island before jou really move to is, so you can make your own opinion: it`s very personal where you feel safe and happy.
We like to live on Recompensapark but there are also the negative points i mentionned.
When you have more questions, just shoot.
Greetings H.

We (my wife and I) live for 2 years now on Recompensa Park and we think it`s just great. Some houses maybe warm as HP mentioned, others are very cool. It`s just a matter of the position of the house to the trade wind. (ours is cool as you might have guessed). Personally I don`t like to be completely isolated by 2 meter high walls around my house like a lot of houses on Curacao do have (Grote Berg, Cas Grandi, Jan Thiel etc...). Although we don`t have this 2m.wall, we do have a private garden because palm trees and bushes work like a natural wall. Also regarding the garden, some houses have more privacy then other houses. Just have a look yourself. About looking for contacts (meaning not living isolated) Recompensa Park is the place for you and your kids to be.

thanks peter

if i may ask do u have a 2 bed room or 3 bedroom and does that make a difference where it is situated

i had just rule the park out on the note of it been too hot in the living room

we stayed in piscadera for a month and by god i thought i was living in an oven and that is no joke

i hated it.i wanted to swim back to holland .i was so unhappy but that was also to do with your have given birth so bad choice to go to curacao .baby could not adjust to the heat at the time but he will be 1 by the time we get there so i am expecting all will be ok.we have just been away in caribean so he was fine .

i know what u are saying about a jail like feeling .we have looked at other villas and they seem to be very closed off and understandable too for secuity reasons but i also do not want to feel that i live in a jail.

as said before i could have the most beautiful villa on curacao and be as miserable because i see no one .could u imagine horrifying

we stayed in piscadera this year and we had a beautiful house but i seen hardly no one.i thought i was going nuts especially for my oldest boy.he is like me a people person.i also like my space and peole to respect that but i think i would go bongers if i had the same situation again and we will be staying for 1 year so it has to be the right choice.

thanks for your help hp and peter and who knows maybe we will be bumping into each other.u won`t miss me red hair hahahahahhaha

We have a 2 bedroom house. But the 2 and 3 bedroom houses are located all over the park in different positions to the trade wind. With 2 kids it`s advisable to look for the 3 bedroom version, the Dalida-B. You can check this one out at the site of recompensa park. http://www.recompensapark.com/nl/bungalows.htm

See you in 2007...(?)
